Alice is in French class, her mind wandering as her teacher rambles on and on. The girl next to her nervously plays with her hair as she stumbles over the words.

"M-mon père a cinquante-huit ans." She whispers and the teacher asks her to speak up for the umpteenth time.

Alice begins entertaining herself with imagining her teacher's reaction to telling them that her father was over three hundred years old when her cellphone vibrated. One eye on the teacher, she digs it out of her pocket and flips it open.

There was $100 in one discreet green bill tucked into Carlisle's briefcase this morning, with a Thank you for letting us use your car this weekend scrawled on a note attached to it. Carlisle smiles, but needs to get to work.
